Tomorrow night at 7pm, we are expecting a huge crowd at Ludlow School for a public meeting on the future of health and council services in Ludlow and Shropshire.

The headline act is Philip Dunne, MP for Ludlow and Health Minister in Theresa May’s government. Philip is due to speak first, after which he will take questions.

Following Philip, we’ll move into panel session. We want to talk about health and services in the same conversation. After all, if you can’t get a bus to your GP, how do get access to health services? Other topics – libraries, leisure centres, museums and more – are also on the agenda if members of the public want to talk about them.

In my mind, the whole health and social agenda are inextricably linked.

Will we get just one A&E and will it be in Shrewsbury?

We are not going to get an answer on that question tomorrow night. But we can debate the consequences.

The members of the panel will be:

  • Debbie Vogler: Future Fit Programme Director
  • Gill George: Defend Our NHS
  • James Harris: Ludow GP
  • Cecilia Motley: Shropshire Council rural portfolio holder
  • George Candler: Director of planning, environment, culture and rather more at Shropshire Council.

There is still time to submit an advance question. Email your questions to townclerk@ludlow.gov.uk. But don’t worry, we’ll be taking a lot of questions on the night.

Come along to Ludlow School on Bromfield Road for a 7pm start. Please arrive early to ensure that you can park and get a seat.

This meeting is jointly organised by Ludlow Town Council and the Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee.
