There will be an opportunity to asks questions and express concerns about crime and safety at a public meeting in Ludlow on 2 March.
The main guest of the evening will be West Mercia’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Tracey Onslow. She will talk about how the commissioner’s office and West Mercia Police work to reduce crime and fear of crime. The meeting will also discuss antisocial behaviour and continuing problems with young people racing around the town centre and other streets.
Tracey will be supported local police officers, including Steven Mason, Ludlow’s new police constable.
Andy Boddington, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North and chair of the Local Joint Committee, says:
“We have a lot of concerns around the town at the moment about antisocial behaviour. People are also concerned about burglaries.
“We are a low crime town but we also need to address fear of crime. This meeting will be an opportunity to talk directly to local police officers and the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.”
Ann Sutcliffe, a director at South Shropshire Housing Association, will talk about the housing association’s new development, at Beech Gardens, Sandpits Road.
The meeting of the Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee will be from 7pm at the Bishop Mascall Centre, Lower Galdeford, Ludlow on 2 March.
Before the meeting, there will be an introduction to the Shropshire Choices website from 6.15pm to 7pm. The website offers information and advice about adult social care, housing and health.
I commend this meeting, it is great to be able to have a say with someone of authority to listen to our concerns.
My input will be the lack of a counter, it seems we have a great building but you have to go 30 miles to talk to anyone face to face. Not easy to discuss small issues of local concern
