This is media release from Sainsbury’s announcing the company is to retail from Rocks Green on the edge of Ludlow.  

Leading UK retailer Sainsbury’s has announced it plans to open the doors to a brand new 18,000 sq ft supermarket in Ludlow, Shropshire next year. 

The investment in the new supermarket will create up to 150 new local jobs and meet the shopping needs of the community from both in the town and wider region.

The new store, to be built on land at the junction of the A49 and Rocks Green, will also include an Argos store inside the supermarket plus 169 customer parking spaces.

The new supermarket has been designed to bring the best possible benefits to Ludlow and will offer a wide range of Sainsbury’s own-brand and branded food ranges, alongside its popular clothing and general merchandise offer. 

The addition of the Argos store inside the supermarket will bring great choice, value and convenience to customers who can benefit from thousands of technology, home and toy products available for immediate purchase and collection. 

The new store will also play an active role in the local community through its food donation, volunteering and charity programmes.

Work is expected to start on site later this year. All works will be managed by the developers, Blackfriars Property Group, with Sainsbury’s commencing their store fit out when the new store is completed next autumn. 

Sainsbury’s Property Director, Patrick Dunne said: “We’re excited about the plans for our new store, which will provide a significant investment in Ludlow, supporting economic growth locally and providing a convenient shopping location for residents. With the nearest Sainsbury’s over 16 miles away and Argos store 19 miles, I know this new store is welcome news for many across the community. We look forward to opening the doors to customers by winter 2021.”
