Bromfield Post Office is to close at the end of the month. Thanks to the hard work of the Bromfield parish council clerk, it will be replaced by a temporary mobile service on Thursday mornings. This will also be on the Food Centre site. This is good news for Bromfield and those that travel from surrounding parishes to use the popular post office.

The post office will be open on Thursdays only, between 10am and 12pm midday.

From the Post Office:

“I’m writing to you to advise you of a temporary service we will be introducing following the closure of the branch at Bromfield. As you can imagine we are currently working to maintain and restore service to number of branches during this uncertain time but we recognise the value of the post office service to communities we serve. With this in mind, I have made arrangements for a service to be provided by a mobile post office to visit the current location on a weekly basis Thursday morning between 10am and midday. This will commence 3rd of September and I will be publishing notification as part of our code of practice. In the meantime, however, I would appreciate if you could publicise this for us within the community.

“At this time there is increased demand on the mobile post office provision as you can imagine, we will shortly be conducting a full route review to accommodate further locations and monitoring the usage at all of our sites including the one at Bromfield to ensure we are meeting the needs of our communities. This may lead to further schedule changes but we will notify you of this in advance and hope to keep disruption to a minimum but we felt it was important to introduce this service at this time with the closure of the current location.

“The operator (Doug) is an experienced postmaster and is well respected and liked so I’m sure he will provide you with an excellent service. You will also find the branch is fully capable of meeting all your needs with the ability to provide the everyday services for the community including cash withdrawals and deposits as well as the mails service along with virtually all the services provided at the current location.”
