For the last few years, we have had a fabulous display of fireworks on Gallows Bank. It’s a great community event, funded by local organisations and donors. It only happens because a lot of people volunteer their time.

This year, the display kicks off at 7 pm. I suggest you arrive early to get a good view. The best viewpoint is at the bottom of the field.

It also gets very crowded at the top of the bank. Last year, there was a pedestrian traffic jam along Dark Lane. If you can enter the site through Sidney Road and Charlton Rise, that will ease congestion and you will get the better view.

After the event, there will be hot dogs and drinks in the Rockspring Community Centre.

The fireworks are free. The event is sponsored by local organisations and run by volunteers. A good number of youngsters from Ludlow and Clee have volunteered to help set the site up and steward the event.

We will be collecting on the night to fund next year’s display.

The firework event is organised by the Ludlow Youth Partnership. It is sponsored by South Shropshire Housing Association, the Furniture Scheme, Shropshire Council, West Mercia Police and Wesley’s, with the support of the Gallows Bank Trust.
