Update. Shropshire Council has now ended the free parking deal. Smithfield and Galdeford car parks remain free on Sundays.
All Shropshire Council car parks are free from today. That includes all car parks in Ludlow. On-street car parking charges remain in place.
We have plenty of space in our car parks now, so please observe social distancing rules.
The butchers, bakers, fruit & veg merchant, convenience stores, health food stores and supermarkets are open, along with the pharmacies. All stores are implementing social distancing. Town centre stores are restricting the number of people who are within the building at any one time. The Co-op on Foldgate Lane is doing the same.
Social distancing is leading to queues. These may be long this morning as it is our peak shopping time. Yesterday, the queue for Boots was more than 100 metres long but everyone was being patient and socially distant.
There are a lot of local businesses offering home delivery and take away meals. An up to date list is being maintained by Let’s Go Ludlow.
Current residents’ permits or season tickets will remain valid until further notice. If the permit expires, you don’t need to purchase another permit until further notice. People holding paper permits should continue to display them as usual.
The park and ride is open but the bus service is now so limited there is no point in using it. If you usually use the park and ride, you would be better served by driving into our almost traffic free town and parking in the Galdeford or Castle Street car parks. But remember that on-street parking is still charges at an eye-watering rate.
