Across the county, collections points have opened for donations of clothing and other items for Afghan refugees.
Locally, Nicola North has once again stepped up to help with the latest refugee crisis. You can drop donations at Sheet Farm, Sheet Road, Ludlow SY8 4JT. Please contact Nicola beforehand for advice where to drop your donations (01584 878528) or contact her on Facebook or Messenger.
A list of items needed is below, along with other drop off points across Shropshire.

- Warm jumpers and cardigans
- Long coats
- Leggings
- New underwear
- Scarves and gloves
- For men:
- Trousers and jeans
- Suits, jackets and blazers
- Shirts
- Jackets and warm coats
- New underwear
- Shoes and boots
- Socks
- Hat, scarfs and gloves.
- For children:
- Baby and toddler clothes for all ages
- Baby grows
- Children’s long sleeved tops
- T Shirts
- Shoes
- Cots
- Prams and Pushchairs but not car seats.
When families arrive in the county, a further appeal is expected to be made for things like toys and other household goods but should you have stock to hand, contact Nicola to see it is needed.
Drop off points outside Ludlow
Craven Arms. Craven Arms Islamic Centre, Noor House, Newton Street, Craven Arms SY7 9PQ. Donations can be dropped off between 7am and 8pm. No phone call required before dropping donations.
Church Stretton. Carol Overs, The Lodge, Madeira Walk, Church Stretton. SY6 6JQ.
Ellesmere. Ellesmere Town Council, 1-3 Willow Street, Ellesmere, SY12 0AL. Donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday from 9am until 1pm, we can arrange additional drop offs by appointment by calling 01691 622188. The Town Council offices are located on the side of the Town Hall. Isabella Lee, 4 Windlass Drive Ellesmere, SY12 0FP. Please message/ring 07554 516333 before dropping donations. Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury United Reformed Church, Coleham Head, Shrewsbury SY3 7BJ. Monday-Friday 10am-2pm please call 07960968006 when you arrive. On arrival at Storage King, please wear a mask, sign in at reception, load your goods into the lift, take the stairs to the 2nd floor, turn right, right again, our unit is located just round the corner.
