Many people will remember the battle against a terrace of housing adjacent to the Readers House and St Laurence’s Church a few years back. Although planning permission was granted, the development was never viable. Now, three almshouses are being built instead.

Between the almshouses and the Readers House is a small plot of land. Ludlow Civic Society aims to turn this into a public open space – the Jubilee Garden (16/00393/FUL). It’s a lovely idea and just right for the location.
