Sainsbury’s is writing to residents in the Rocks Green area to tell them that the store will be open by Christmas. We don’t have a date yet but it looks like being sometime in November.
The external works are nearing completion and should be completed in the next month. The internal fitting out inside the store has begun early. The store will also host a small Argos where customers will be able to order or collect having ordered online.

We’re writing to you regarding the new Sainsbury’s supermarket which will shortly be opening at Rocks Green, Ludlow.
As you know, construction of the new supermarket has been underway for some time and is now well progressed. Davis Street Properties, who own the freehold of the site and are building the new supermarket, are currently working on the new store car park. We expect the majority of this external work to be completed by mid-October.
In order to ensure that the new Sainsbury’s supermarket can open as soon as possible, and in time for Christmas, we have taken early possession of the store building whilst this work on the wider site continues. As a result of this, we are able to start the internal building fit-out, to prepare the store for opening.
Our fit-out work is not expected to be disruptive, as most of this work will take place inside the building and between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a small amount of external activity required, predominantly involving the installation of signage and electric vehicle charging points, but this will also take place during normal working hours.
We cannot wait to welcome the local community into our new Sainsbury’s supermarket, and we will let you know the opening date as soon as we are able to. In the meantime, we are beginning to recruit our new store colleagues and would encourage any residents that are interested in opportunities at the new store to keep an eye on Sainsbury’s dedicated jobs website: www.sainsburgs.jobs
In total, our new supermarket will create around 150 new jobs for local people, across a range of roles and levels. The Sainsbury’s team in Ludlow will play an active role in the community by supporting food donation, volunteering and charity initiatives in the local area, as well as our nationwide community programmes and charity partners.
Our new 17,000sqft supermarket has been specifically designed to best meet local needs and will provide a fantastic selection of Sainsbury’s own-brand and branded food ranges, alongside our popular general merchandise offer, which includes a variety of products from our high-quality Habitat collection. An Argos store will also be provided inside the supermarket, which will bring great choice, value and convenience to our customers who will benefit from hundreds of technology, home and toy products available for immediate purchase and collection.
