Ludlow Art Mural coming to the end of its life

The Ludlow Art Mural Project was an amazing initiative. The idea of a mural was born in a chat over a beer. A deal to paint the boards on the former Budgens was agreed in a shake of the hand when I met Robin Morris the developer. Morris Property paid for the scaffolding and paint. Shropshire Council provided youth support. The entire project went from first thoughts to completion in five weeks. Sometimes the discussion was stormy. That’s art and artists for you. Now with plans for new retail units and apartments submitted, the mural’s days are numbered.

The Ludlow mural project in images

We did it. Five weeks from conception to completion. Just ten days on site. An eyesore is now a head turner. Below are images of the project in progress and completed. Our thanks to Morris Property for funding the project. Also to Shropshire Council for providing youth workers for the Young Zone. A huge part of our community contributed to this project. Thank you all.

Ludlow’s Art Mural Project gets a blue makeover. Seven days to go – join or watch us!

This has been a fantastic day. We had a team of volunteers on site dealing with technical issues on access and safety. But much more important, the paint mob arrived. The site is now a sky-blue and light cloud colour. That will make a fantastic background for the main artwork. We have no more than seven days to complete the full mural. This is an inclusive project. If you can help, join us!

Ludlow Art Mural Project picks up pace as themes develop

This is a brief update on the mural project. We have agreed an outline design. The project artists are brainstorming detailed designs. We have a great team of artists working on this project. It is not an exclusive project, so if you want to join the team, contact us through our Facebook page. We are holding last meeting in the Blue Boar at 11.15am on Saturday, 1 September. Please join us if you can. There is still a lot to sort out!
