Poll: Should Ludlow police station close altogether or be relocated? Vote now

West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner Bill Longmore has suggested that more police stations should close. One suggestion is that the police should share premises with the fire and rescue service. Ludlow police station on Lower Galdeford is used but the front counter service closed last autumn. Instead, visitors must press a button on a door panel and speak into it when the remote operator answers. West Mercia police do however use it as a base when they are working in the town and surrounding area. Otherwise, they work out of the main local base in Leominster or other stations. So, should Ludlow police station reopen the front counter? Should it close altogether? Or should we seek a new location for the station?

Vote now – should new petrol station and store in Ludlow be open 24 hours?

The Delve family (who own Harry Tuffins) have applied for a petrol filling station on the corner of Bromfield Road and Coronation Avenue. They also plan to build a decent sized convenience store. If planning permission is given, should these be open 24 hours a day seven days a week? The South Planning Committee has decided to defer its decision on whether the scheme should be approved. It has asked the question: should this petrol station and store be open 24 hours a day? Do we need a 24 hour facility in Ludlow? Let me know your views on this by voting and commenting below.

Poll: Which supermarket would you like to see at Ludlow Rocks Green? (if it is approved)

I haven’t taken a view on whether this supermarket scheme will be a good or bad thing for Ludlow. But let’s just imagine it gets planning permission. Through the planning system, we can negotiate or insist on changes to the appearance of a store, the site layout and its design. But we can’t choose the retail operator. So, if we could choose which retail group occupied the store if it is ever built, which would you like to come to Ludlow? Would like a return of Harry Tuffins? Another Co-op? A bigger Tesco? A Sainsbury’s or Asda on the doorstep? A Lidl or Morrisons maybe? Waitrose anyone? Or would you prefer no store at all?
