Morning and it’s a better one. Ludlow is returning to normal today and we are expecting all services to be open. The market is back in operation and pavements in the town centre have been cleared. Buses are expected to operate near normally. Ludlow schools are open. Some rural schools are closed or on limited hours. Snow and ice will remain on side streets and pavements, where it may still be very slippery. Car parks have yet to be cleared. Some cold temperatures between 7am and 9am and around teatime may lead to refreezing. There is a possibility of sleet this evening.
Transport. We expect buses will run normally, but I have yet to confirm whether the 722 will serve Steventon. It is not serving Tollgate. At Rocks Green the service has been picking up from Dun Cow Road as the estate has not been accessible due to snow and parked cars. Trains are so far running on time.
Ludlow Market reopened this morning.
Pavements are difficult on many side streets. Core town centre pavements have been cleared. Bromfield Road pavements have been partially gritted.
Car parks are okay but take care. The access roads are fine but the spaces are slushy.
Schools. Ludlow schools are open. Bishop Hooper school at Ashford Carbonell is closed today. Bitterley is open 10am to 3pm. Clee Hill Community Academy opens at 10m. See the Shropshire Council website for more details.
Services. All medical and council services are expected to operate normally. Post is being delivered but there may be a backlog for side streets.
Gritting. Not everywhere could be gritted. Main routes have been gritted non-stop and secondary routes have been gritted several times. Countywide, crews have been working non-stop with some completing a 22-hour shift over the weekend. Our local priorities have been to clear the town centre and reopen bus routes to ensure people can access essential services. Many residents have been shovelling snow and gritting. Thanks.
