A petition has been launched to reverse planned cutbacks to staffing at Ludlow’s renowned Museum Resource Centre. Sign the petition here.

Ludlow Museum Resource Centre staffing is to be reduced from three people to just a half time post based in Shrewsbury from April. The person in this post will serve the MRC as well as other facilities around the county. That means limited opening hours here in Ludlow and that volunteers and researchers will be turned away from our world class collections.

Scholars come here from across the country. We hold these collections not just for Ludlow, but for all Shropshire and the world beyond. We have a civic duty to allow access to them. Shropshire Council’s plans are antediluvian. The council fails to understand the value of the collections to the community, to worldwide research and to our local economy.

Please sign the petition.

If we get 1,000 signatures, the cutbacks must be discussed at a full Shropshire Council meeting. The signatures will also demonstrate how committed people in Ludlow and Shropshire are to what one expert has called “a real gem, an amazing resource”.

  1. I see from the Philip Dunne website that the Barrowboys have gone into partial retreat. It is very important that you get all your friends to get this Epetition up to 1000 to get a debate..Ludlow has been let down too often.

  2. As of todays date, ONLY 2 OF OUR 14 LUDLOW TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE SIGNED THIS EPETITION. Makes you think !
